The Fahey /Klein Gallery is pleased to present a photographic exhibition
documenting the iconic Faces In Music from 1952 to 2002. This exhibition
includes memorable album covers to never before seen intimate backstage
moments of the jazz, blues, and rock n roll pioneering legends.
This show contains over 105 photographs of musicians performing; posing
for formal portraits; relaxing backstage; during rehearsals at the studio;
and in other circumstances in the life of celebrity. Many of these images
have appeared on well-known album covers and/ or on magazine covers.
Whether it was the young raw energy of the rock stars before they knew
what stardom was, or the mystique of a dimly lit smoke filled club with
America's preeminent jazz heroes - we can hear the music in the images.
"Faces in Music" chronicles the era of the "all-access pass" once offered to
the photographers of Rolling Stone and Life Magazine. A photographic timeline
is created of mop-top haircuts, flared pants, reclusive singer/ song
writers, sexual divas, angst and anarchy, androgyny and the cool
atmosphere surroundingjazz musicians. Each image, in this exhibition,
allows the viewer the opportunity to experience a musical era with their
eyes.
Highlights include Iconic Photographs of: Elvis, Beatles, Jimi Hendrix,
Janis Joplin, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Chet Baker, Duke
Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, The Clash, Sex Pistols,
Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and U2,
among many others.
