DAVID DREBIN
Temptation - New Work

December 9, 2010 through January 22, 2011
Reception for the Artist Thursday, December 9, 7-9 p.m.

The Fahey/Klein Gallery is pleased to present a selection of color photographs from contemporary photographer, David Drebin's new monograph, The Morning After (teNeues, 2010). This exhibition features murals of David Drebin’s vivid cityscapes and landscapes, as well as the beautiful, seductive women who inhabit these spaces. “Drebin, from exposure to print, enthralls us with the style and wit of his visual stories. We live vicariously through his characters, and relish in the fantasy evoked by his images.” (Michelle Marie Roy, The Morning After)

Using the luminous backdrop of cities such as Rio De Janiero, Hong Kong, San Francisco, Barcelona, New York, and Paris, Drebin elicits voyeuristic tendancies in his viewers. Living vicariously in the luxury of Drebin’s rich cinematic settings, the audience observes the glamorous sophisticates who portray an array of tales from lust to heartbreak.

“David Drebin’s photographs are reminiscent of the allure of the silver screen. His images depict storylines dramatized against the backdrop of urban landscapes. Intimate relationships are suggested by the gestures of the characters we meet suspended in each film still… It is as if we have walked into the cinema halfway through the feature film.” (Michelle Marie Roy, The Morning After)

David Drebin has said of his own photographic stories, “There is a seemingly endless stream of destinations our souls long to experience. Places that we often envision as being more interesting than the spaces we are currently in…It is the destination of possibilities.” (David Drebin, November 2010).

A graduate from Parson’s School of Design, David Drebin has received notable success with ad campaigns for The New York Times, Sony, Mercedes, MTV, Davidoff, as well as photographing for various publications such as GQ, Vanity Fair, The New York Times Magazine, Elle, and Rolling Stone. His work is included in numerous private collections throughout Europe and the United State. David Drebin currently lives and works in New York City.

Copies of David Drebin's new publication, The Morning After published by teNeues, 2010, are available at the Fahey/Klein Gallery.
